Meet Officer Jeff Holt and K-9 Diesel

The Cecil Township Police K-9 Unit perform narcotics detection, tracking, criminal apprehension, building searches, area searches, article searches and patrol work. K-9 Diesel is a German Shepard born in the Czech Republic and has been a member of the police force since September of 2016. After an initial ten week training course K-9 Diesel began patrol with his partner and handler Officer Jeffrey Holt. They continue to train throughout the year to maintain their skills. The K-9 program was instituted with the support of businesses and citizens in Cecil Township. The K-9 Unit participates in the departments outreach activities including public demonstrations, school details and foot patrols.

K-9 Diesel follows in the pawprints of K-9 Miner who patrolled Cecil Township from December 2008 until his retirement in the summer of 2016. K-9 Miner was also a German Shepard from the Czech Republic and got his name from Consol Energy who generously provided the donation to implement the K-9 program for the Cecil Township Police.
